German Class.

                                       German Class

In September we had a cultural language  week at Good Shepherd School. Each teacher  taught a different language. Each child had to pick three different languages they would like to learn. The options were, Italian in Room One, Room Two Brazilian,  Room Three Philippino, Room Four Korean, Room Five French, Room Six Indian, Room Seven Spanish, Room Nine Japanese and Room Eight German. We had language quizzes and games.

Luckily for me I got my first choice, which was German. I wanted to learn German because I have cousins that live in Germany. One day I would like to visit them. When I visit them, I would like to speak to them in German.  Miss O’Neill taught the German class in Room Eight and we also had parent helpers come and help.

Zara’s au pair who is a German came to our class to talk to us about Germany. She showed us how to play a game. It was like duck duck goose but we stood up and instead of taping someone on the head you put something behind them. If the person tags you then you go into the middle.

I learnt how to say hello, goodbye, what's up, what's your name, my name is, sorry, thank you, you’re welcome and how to count from zero to ten.

At the end of the week each language class did a performance in front of the school and parents. The German group did a slap dance. We wore clothes which were the same colours of the flag or you could put on a German dress. The German flag is yellow, red and black.

I really loved cultural language week. It was amazing and fun.
Auf Wiedersehen.
