The rug poem

The rug poem

One day a big fat fug
Sat on the rug
With a big fat mug
And a big fat bug
The fug  disgustingly ate the bug
and the mug
 and the rug

and nobody lived happily ever  after at least the fug did.

NZ Ukulele Festival.

On Saturday the 17 of November I went to the NZ Ukulele Festival. It was really fun because of all the food and clothes and ukuleles but there was a bit of rain. There songs we did it was really fun. There was one song called Rivers. it was sung by a girl but the real writers were from a band called Six 60 and I only found that out last week when I was researching for my inquiry topic. But besides the rain I had a great time.

Lions are better pets than dogs.

A lion as a pet how cool would that be. Lions can keep the cat’s away, protect you and you can also get some income/ money from having a lion as a pet.

Lions can also keep your vegetables in the garden safe from the next door neighbour’s cats. Cats are afraid of Lions because lions are bigger cats. If you watched Fair Go on TV, then you would have seen that lions poo keeps the cat's away. If you got a lion as a pet your vegetable garden would always be fresh. This would keep your veggies safe and prevent cat's litter. No dog can be that good at keeping cats away.

Lions are good for guarding pets and they are better than any dogs. They can protect you from burglars. When that poor burglars see your lion they are going to scream and run. Lions can keep you safe from other dogs and they can chase them away. They have really long claws. Their teeth are amazingly sharp and dangerous. That is how a lion can keep you and your family safe. Sometimes burglars make friends with dogs but they won't dare do that with lions.

Have you ever wanted a pet from the zoo. Well what better pet than a lion? Did you know that if you get a lion you can get money. People will pay you to come and see your pet lion. You can also train your lion to do tricks and you would get even more income to pay for all your lion’s food and everything he needs to stay alive. Your lion can get you money for all of its food and water.

That's why you should get a lion as pet it will keep your veggies safe, protect you and give you income.

Live, life to the fullest.

Love life and live it to the fullest. But some people don’t. Instead some people are always sad and negative and don’t do anything with their life but today I believe that all of this is about to change. We should love life and live it to the fullest because it’s God's gift, a healthy mind and a healthy body.

God gave Adam and Eve life. Life was a gift from God. He also gave us trees and plants for oxygen, shade and yummy salads. God gave us animals to keep us company when we’re lonely. He gave us animals to eat which is great protein for us humans. He gave us animals to work for us, such as camels and horses carry us on their backs, and in the olden days oxen helped farmers on the farm. So if you don’t live your life to the fullest, you are wasting the marvellous gift God gave us.

Living your life to the fullest could guarantee a healthy body. Exercising keeps your body healthy. In the morning you can get up early and go out for a run or you stay home and do some exercising. Another way to keep your body healthy is to eat healthy. You can have five fruit a day and keep you healthy all the time or go out for dinner with friends and feed your body with all different foods. Make use of every moment you have.

To keep a healthy mind is important for you to live your life to the fullest. Every now and then you need to socialise with the people around you and talk to people. If you don’t socialise with people then you will always be sad, angry and negative all the time. You can also travel and go to different places and see different things, places and people. On some Fridays my family and I play a board game or watch a family movie. We will always have fun and enjoy our lives. This is one way we socialise with each other.

A healthy mind, healthy body and a gift from God are all wonderful things.
Now I hope you can live and love your life and enjoy yourself.

The Big Fat Cat.

The big fat cat
Sat on the mat
With a big fat rat
and a big fat bat.

All I know is that
The big fat cat
Wore a fluffy hat,
Made of rat
And flew away
With wings of a bat,
And the big fat bat and rat

Didn’t live to see tomorrow.

ELECTRIC CARS

What do you think the future of cars are going to be? I think electric cars is the future of cars because they are better for the environment and convenient. If you want to find out why, then sit back relax and learn.
Everybody knows electric cars run on electricity right. That means they need to be charged regularly. Do you wonder where the electricity goes when the car is being charged. There is a battery in the car and it fills up with electricity.

Everywhere you go these day you see electric charging stations. The other day we were at Sylvia park and right there in the parking area were charging stations. How convenient is that charge your car while shopping. No waiting around for your tank to fill up. Or you could just go home and charge your car while you sleep. (Silence count till 5 in head) Did you hear that, that was the sound of the electric car. Electric cars are not as noisy as petrol or diesel cars. This means that it does not add to noise pollution. This makes it better for the environment.

Electric cars have the same features as ordinary cars but there are some different features like smoother rides because the engine was made different from ordinary cars. Sometimes they are more convenient than petrol cars. Because in some countries electric cars can receive software updates in the comfort of a home garage. (Coughing and choking)Hey dads ever wondered how revving up your v6 engines were affecting the air. Well petrol and diesel operated cars directly affect and contribute to air pollution. But not electric cars. They don't give off any fumes making it better for the air around us ( take a deep breath) mm thats better.  Convenience and better for the environment who could ask for more!

German Class.

                                       German Class

In September we had a cultural language  week at Good Shepherd School. Each teacher  taught a different language. Each child had to pick three different languages they would like to learn. The options were, Italian in Room One, Room Two Brazilian,  Room Three Philippino, Room Four Korean, Room Five French, Room Six Indian, Room Seven Spanish, Room Nine Japanese and Room Eight German. We had language quizzes and games.

Luckily for me I got my first choice, which was German. I wanted to learn German because I have cousins that live in Germany. One day I would like to visit them. When I visit them, I would like to speak to them in German.  Miss O’Neill taught the German class in Room Eight and we also had parent helpers come and help.

Zara’s au pair who is a German came to our class to talk to us about Germany. She showed us how to play a game. It was like duck duck goose but we stood up and instead of taping someone on the head you put something behind them. If the person tags you then you go into the middle.

I learnt how to say hello, goodbye, what's up, what's your name, my name is, sorry, thank you, you’re welcome and how to count from zero to ten.

At the end of the week each language class did a performance in front of the school and parents. The German group did a slap dance. We wore clothes which were the same colours of the flag or you could put on a German dress. The German flag is yellow, red and black.

I really loved cultural language week. It was amazing and fun.

Laughing Owls

                         Laughing Owls!
Laughing owls are native New Zealand birds. They were first found in Nelson, Marlborough, east of the main divide in the South Island, and on Stewart Island. The Maori name for the laughing owl is whēkau or the white-faced owl.

The laughing owls have yellowish-brown striped feathers with dark brown skin. There are white straps on the scapulars, and occasionally the hind neck. Mantle feathers were edged with white. The wings and tail had light brown bars. The tarsus had yellowish to reddish-buff feathers. The facial disc was white behind and below the eyes, fading to grey with brown stripes towards the centre.

Before us people like your and mine generation of families came the Laughing Owl preyed on native species such, as Kiwi and Duck. The laughing owl also preyed on lizards, insects, birds, mice, and rats. The Laughing Owl also preyed on larger birds, such as the Weka, and even the Moreporks and other New Zealand owls.

The extinction of the laughing owls was in the early twentieth century. Now your properly thinking how did the laughing owls actually get extinct. The reason why this owl went extinct, in the early twentieth century , was because it had no defense against their predators, who were wild mammals like the effective hunters of beetles, birds, and

lizards Land changes might have played a role as well in the extinction of these birds.

I really like the laughing owl and I hope that you have learnt something new about the laughing owl.
